I recently applied for a Whanau leadership role and was successful in my application. I am excited to take up this role and I have a lot of ideas to motivate my fellow Whanu teachers and students. I have already set up a meeting with the other Whanau leaders to talk about ideas and activities for inter Whanau competitions. This is a copy of my application letter which I sent on bright yellow paper as this is my Whanau colour. Sung to the tune of ‘I like working for Uncle Sam’ Waitawa, Waitawa, who are we? Listen up and you will see. We won’t give up till the winning is done, Because Waitawa house is number one. We love our yellow and we love our name, to win each game is our aim. 1 2 3 4 Lynmore School Yellow Core 1 2 3 4 Lynmore School Yellow Core. Hi Lorraine, This is my application to become Waitawa Whanau Group Leader. I believe I have all the criteria to become a good leader. I mean who is the first to dress up on Whanau day, me and who is always on the side lines cheering the loudest, yup me again. I have loads of ideas to help encourage and support the leaders. For a start I think the presentation of the house points in community could do with ramping up. I was thinking the leaders should be dressed up in house colours to deliver them and show a bit more enthusiasm. I have loads of ideas for Whanau days and I believe I could work with the other Whanau leaders to implement a good programme of events. I hope you will consider me a good candidate. 1 2 3 4 Lynmore School Yellow Core, over and out. Karen In view of the recent dog attacks on children in NZ, I thought it would be a good idea to invite the SPCA in to talk to the children about the best and safest way to approach dogs. I decided to open it up to the whole of the Junior team. It took a few weeks to organise but it all came together and the visits were a great success with both children and staff. I even had some good feedback from parents who told me the children were repeating what they had learned off Geoff and his dog Chloe. This also links to RTC 02
It was a bit nerve racking at first but with the help of Jenny It went very well, even with a few technical hitches.
The junior team teachers take it in turns to lead the Junior assembly. This involves setting up the programme, picking the songs and giving out reading certificates. It's a good thing to do as it prepares us for leading community on a Friday for the whole school with parents. |
