We all had a great time on holiday, here are our holiday selfies which we did in writing.
We have been working very hard in maths. We love working independently on our maths rotations. We work on lots of different activities which stretches our brains and lets us work out different ways of solving mathematical problems. Below are some photos of us working on different activities including addition, measuring, number bingo and doubles games. Our story boards were a huge success. The children worked really hard together to recreate the story of the Ugly Duckling. Room 25 is very proud of it's results. Thanks to all those grandparents that came to Room 25 on Friday. To those that couldn't make it no worries there were plenty of 'surrogate' grandparents for all the children. We had great fun reading and showing them our reading rotation activities. We then had a lovely story read to us by another grandparent as Whaea Karen was losing her voice again!. After morning tea we had a great art lesson making animals and trees for our story boards based around the story of the ugly duckling. We had a lovely morning with Room 19 and the guys from Canopy Tours. They talked to the children about NZ native birds and how they are becoming extinct due to predators that have been introduced into NZ. They talked to us about how we can protect our natiive birds by setting traps to catch things like rats, stoats and possums. The children enjoyed looking at the different predators and learning about the kiwi and the programme set up to help save it. We had great fun investigating flight. We experimented with lots of different paper planes to see which one was the best in flight. We investigated lots of options such as wing size, nose size, did it make a difference if the wings were bent or straight or how big they were. I was amazed at the dedication the children put into their learning. It's great to know you can rely on your students when you are feeling under the weather. No voice meant no story until one of the students stepped up to the plate. What a great job he did too. We had great fun making our own sherbet in writing. Some of us made ours a little bit sour as you can see from the photos. It was great fun to do and it gave us lots to write about. The children's creativity never ceases to amaze me! The children remain on task the whole time and I am blown away by how quickly they tidy up and work together as a team. One of the reasons I love my job! |
